I work away most of the week and have to leave my house empty. I would like to have home automation monitor and control my house. Naturally I want to be a bit of a geek and do some of it myself so I've researched stuff like x10, zwave, cbus e.t.c. but I want opinions on which I should use in my house. I have a Linux box that could be used to actually do controlling if needed.

So which technology and why?
